Training Season off to a good start!

Start of training season was on November 3rd.  We have a great group of recruits and I am excited to watch them progress through the training season.  We are restructuring our training season to include online learning.  This way our in class focus can be more hands on and practical experience.  Please join me in welcoming our new recruits and wishing them luck....they'll need it!  If you are interested in joining Skagit Search and Rescue please visit our website for more information.

Congratulations to the recruits for this years training season!  They have pushed through the mud, tackled the bog, navigated over field and stream, and searched the trails.  These are the proud new members of Skagit County Sheriff Search and Rescue and Explorer's!!!
Great job for all the hard work you have put in.  It has been yet another great training season and we have come together as a team.  Welcome to the family!

Soul Food:

"I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.  I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live.  Life is no "brief candle" to me.  It is sort of a splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations."  -George Bernard Shaw

This should be SAR's mantra!  I love it, very well said!

Our own Jeff Brown back from Haiti

Jeff Brown just came back from a mission to Haiti.  He was traveling there to help the people that were affected by the horrible earthquakes.  Jeff left early Tuesday morning and flew to the ruins of Jacmel Haiti.  On arrival he quickly awoke to the horrific needs of these people.  Jeff and the rest of the medical team returned home this Sunday, January 24, 2010.  King 5 news interviewed Jeff and the other people that he was traveling with upon return.  Please welcome Jeff home and check out the article on King 5.
